Process to Become a Member of SLGDEA

Step 1: Eligibility Check
- Choose your membership category (ie. Artisanal Small-Scale Miners, Gold Dealers, Exporters, Brokers, Students or Affiliates).
- Confirm that you meet the minimum criteria for that membership category, such as:
- Holding the necessary licenses (e.g., mining license, gold buying/export licenses).
- Having an operational business or activity in the gold sector.
Step 2: Application Submission
- Obtain the Membership Application Form from the SLGDEA office or website.
- Complete the form with accurate information, including:
- Personal or company details (name, address, and contact).
- Membership category and type (Regular, Premium, or Corporate).
- Business registration certificates (if applicable).
- Copy of any relevant licenses (e.g., mining or export licenses).
- A passport-size photo (for individuals) or company logo (for businesses).
Step 3: Payment of Application Fees
- Pay the non-refundable application fee as determined by the association based on the membership category.
- Payment details (bank account or mobile payment options) are typically provided with the application form.
- Obtain a receipt or confirmation of payment.
Step 4: Application Review and Verification
- The SLGDEA Membership Committee will review your application and verify the submitted documents.
- Verification may include:
- Checking your business or operational activities in the gold sector.
- Validating submitted licenses and regulatory compliance.
- Conducting site visits (for artisanal miners or gold dealers).
Step 5: Approval and Membership Fee Payment
- Upon successful verification, you will receive an approval notification from SLGDEA.
- Pay the required annual membership fee based on your category and membership type (Regular, Premium, or Corporate).
- A membership certificate will be issued as proof of membership.
Step 6: Induction and Onboarding
- Attend a new member orientation session to:
- Understand SLGDEA’s rules, benefits, and code of conduct.
- Meet other members and stakeholders in the association.
- You will be officially added to SLGDEA’s membership directory and network.

- Signed Membership application form.
- Business registration certificate (if applicable).
- Copy of licenses (e.g., mining license, gold buying/export licenses).
- Identification documents (e.g., national ID or passport).
- Proof of payment for application fees.

Processing Timeline
Application processing typically takes 1-2 weeks, depending on the completeness of submitted documents and verification requirements.
Important Notes about Membership
- Membership renewal is annual, requiring updated documents and fee payment.
- Members are expected to comply with the SLGDEA Code of Conduct.
- Members are expected to comply with regulatory requirements of the gold sector in Sierra Leone as set by the National Minerals Agency (NMA)
